West of the Trail

One of Sarasota’s most prestigious areas lies just south of downtown, and is known as "West of the Trail." Up-scale neighborhoods such as Harbor Acres and Cherokee Park are located within this area and are among the most sought after of Sarasota’s luxury home districts.

Harbor Acres, for example, is a long established community of families, professionals and business executives residing in an eclectic blend of architecturally impressive new and older homes. The desirability of this location lies in both it’s attractiveness and convenience, sandwiched as it is between the bustling downtown district of retail establishments and restaurants and the calm beauty of Sarasota Bay.

What was once in the long ago an area of citrus groves, is now known as the prestigious West of the Trail neighborhood of Cherokee Park. Much like Harbor Acres, Cherokee Park is a long established community, first developed in the 1930s.

Located just off Osprey Key and close to the beaches of Siesta Key and downtown Sarasota, Cherokee Park is a community of stately traditional and hacienda-style older homes, many of which were built in the 1940s, and 1950s, and most have been extensively renovated and modernized as befits such an upper-scale area.

The Flowered Streets

Some of the streets are named after flowers. They are referred to as "the flower streets". Magnolia, clematis, rose and bougainvillea are a few of them. The older homes here tend to be on the lower end of the price spectrum for West of the Trail property.
